Hicking

Hiking is still one of the most popular activities in Ardèche.  The Mas des Faïsses belongs to the “Couleurs Randos” network and can offer numerous hikes, going about or with the possibility of having your luggage transported to the next-step lodging.

The “GR de Pays” hiking trail, part of the Tanargue tour trail system, passes right in front of our door.

Maps are available onsite, showing hundreds of kilometers of paths to hike within a radius of 30 km.

Hiking with a donkey, a mule or a horse

In such steep and mountainous regions as these in Southern Europe, merchandise was transported using mules up until the 19th century.

Inspired by the writings of Albin Mazon, a local figure who wrote “Les Muletiers du Vivarais et du Velay”, four hiking paths have been identified and adapted to help you discover the commercial exchanges that once existed between the high mountain regions and the valley.

Located along a former mule path, the Mas des Faïsses can offer room to house your hiking companions  : donkeys, mules or horses.

More information about the mule paths is available at  http://surlespasdesmuletiers.jimdo.com/

Fly fishing

For those who love fishing, the Val de Ligne recently opened a fly-fishing route a few kilometers away from the Mas des Faisses.  Fishing licences are available at the Largentière Tourist Office.
